Down the road…

So, every year watching the Oscars, I promise myself that “I’ll watch more nominated films next year”. Let’s face it, despite its obvious issues and shortcomings, The Oscars can be fun . . . even more fun when you’ve seen the movies! Right? So, loving Frances McDormand a lot, Husband were excited to see Nomadland this coming. But, night after night we found ourselves “saving it for later”. I think we could both see that it was going to be a visually beautiful movie. But I think we were both secretly and silently worried about a slow-paced arthouse film not serving up what we were all promised . . . and looking forward to. Finally, tonight, we watched it. It was gorgeous! The pace was perfect. The imagery was amazingly inspiring. The cast (in large part not professional actors, but real nomads) was beautiful and perfect and the real heart of the story. Absolutely inspiring movie about self-discovery, bravery, independence, friendship, love, and resourcefulness (of material items as well as our renewable spirit and pride in ourselves). And, as we already know, Frances McDormand is a damn goddess. Also, Swankie is everything. See you down the road!
